This is not the End by Brendan Stoneham

This is not the End by Brendan Stoneham

Life suffers a languishing blow-

Anguish haunts her vitality.

Her shadows have come undone,

Their magic lies in tatters.

They dance no more-

They cry out at this

Unceasing cessation of life…

  1. I have always found the personification of Life an intriguing notion and one with many historical precedents.

In this poem, Life is depicted as a female; who has suffered a languishing blow that has left the magic of her shadows [What are the shadows of Life?] in tatters. So much so, that they cease to dance and instead cry out, because of the unceasing suffering of Life.
