Poetry, A Subtle Kind Of Torture? by Faymarie Morris

Poetry, A Subtle Kind Of Torture?

A subtle kind of torture, poetry
that will dredge emotion up from your soul,
and leave you breathless. Slowly, the words come
but you will give them all away, like smiles.
From the depths of your being, cautiously,
you reach into your audience and hope
just one person understands your passion.
You frown. Throat is dry. Eyes water. Of course
they cannot truly appreciate this,
with your eyes clamped shut, in torment and bliss.
Poetry- a subtle kind of torture!
