Crowd – by Michael Healy

I had never been in a real crowd before,
Until we went to see the Changing of the Guard.
Buckingham Palace is surrounded by railings
To which hundreds of nationalities squeeze.
If you are with someone at the start,
Chances are you will get separated.
The event lasts about half an hour and eventually,
The crowd disperse after photos taken.
My wife and I were invited to the afternoon Garden Party.
After showing our passports we were allowed in,
Then we strolled across where the soldiers had marched in the morning, but
Oh how nice it was not to be in a crowd!
